The world of today has a staggering population of over 7
billion people. There are 7 billion minds, waiting to acquire knowledge and
learn about the world. Education has almost become a necessity; it’s become a
fundamental right. People are getting educated, they are gaining knowledge, so
what is the dilemma? Unemployment. People cannot find jobs; they cannot take
care of their families, given that they are educated even with at least a
Bachelor’s degree. This has lead to massive wastage of human resource, and has
stopped the Indian economy from reaching it’s true potential. If we take the
example of India, which has the booming IT industry of the world, the world
practically imports the best IT graduates from India, and they are put up at
the highest posts in billion dollar companies. This is the reason why most
people in India are inclined to do engineering as a career, even if their dream
is to be something else. They have parental pressures towards become an
engineer, and sometimes that leads them into the wrong way. And so, many people
are left unemployed educated people, millions of Indians holding a Bachelor’s
in Technology, going to an average college, still cannot get jobs because of
enormous concentration of people in the IT industry.
Many engineers’ lives go wasted in this process, they cannot
do what they wanted to. There are so many fields of work to explore in today’s
materialistic world; IT is not always the answer. There is a formula us Indians
supposedly devised, if it’s a boy, then engineer, if it’s a girl, doctor. You
are scarred for life, and expected to do engineering as you grow up. Being
educated just doesn’t mean that you have a degree, it means you should know how
to take smart decisions at the right times, education not only instills in us
knowledge but the power of moral value and we understand life better. If Sachin
Tendulkar had become an engineer, would he have been world famous? He followed
his heart and pursued the passion of cricket, and became one of the best. There
are many other classic examples such as Vishwanathan Anand, who have followed
their dreams and achieved the best out of them. Education does not mean
knowledge, it means understanding, analyzing and applying knowledge in your
everyday life. Realize your goal and follow it, and one day you will become
famous.
